From MLB.com’s Matt Fortuna:

NEW YORK — The back and forth homer race between Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira gave the Yankees something positive to talk about on a day that was painful for both their biggest stars and their quietest acquisitions.

Alex Rodriguez was hit near his quad in the sixth inning, after homering in the fourth. Bartolo Colon, who was signed to a Minor League contract in January, left with a strained left hamstring in the seventh.

But Granderson and Teixeira provided a lift Saturday in the Yankees’ 4-0 win over the Indians by hitting solo home runs to right, their 20th and 19th on the season, respectively.

Morning Bits 6/12/11

Another win yesterday but not so joyous as we will find out today the fate of Bartolo Colon.

Here are your morning links…

* Jeter has 5 more games at home to get 3,000 hits.  He needs 9 more hits.  Can he do it?  In my opinion no shot but i’m still pulling for him.

* Joba remains optimistic about Tommy John surgery.

* Russel Martin looks to be back for today’s game.  Let’s hope so before Cervelli sails another ball into centerfield.
