Enjoy the game.

Eric Chavez (foot, back, abdomen) went 4-for-5 with four singles and two runs scored Wednesday in his second minor league rehab game with High-A Tampa.

Chavez served as the designated hitter for the second straight day. He is now 4-for-8 with a walk over his first two rehab games. The plan is for him to play third base on Thursday and Friday. The oft-injured Chavez is no sure thing, but he could rejoin the Yanks rather quickly if he can make it through back-to-back games with no issues.

Rafael Soriano (elbow) gave up two runs over 1 1/3 innings Tuesday night in his first minor league rehab appearance with High-A Tampa.

Soriano breezed through a scoreless first inning, but gave up a home run, a single and a sacrifice bunt to open the second. He struck out one and walked none before being pulled. Barring any setbacks, he should rejoin the Yankees bullpen next week, though it’s expected that he will be eased back into a late-inning role. The high-price reliever has been sidelined since mid-May with right elbow soreness.

Ivan Nova (ankle) will have his next turn for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre skipped.

Nova twisted his ankle in Tuesday’s start and had to come out, but he felt much better Wednesday and appears to have avoided a serious ailment. He should get back out there before the end of the month.
