Enjoy the game.

Pregame Notes:

— Looks like the Yankees are going with the 6-man rotation. Ivan Nova is now scheduled to pitch on Thursday in Chicago instead of Colon. Bartolo will get the start on Friday against the Red Sox.

— If Ivan Nova has another great start, and Hughes struggles again, Andrew Marchand of ESPNNY doesn’t see how the Yankees could leave Hughes in the rotation.

— Mike Axisa of RAB put up an interesting fun fact on his Twitter. “Brett Gardner has a .399 SLG. That would be the third highest on the White Sox behind Konerko (.550) and Quentin (.501).” Yikes, that means Gardner’s SLG is higher than Adam Dunn.

Montero coming soon; other minor-leaguers moving

MONTERO COMING SOON; OTHER MINOR-LEAGUERS MOVING

by Mike D.

John Nalbone of NJ.com says that Jesus Montero is expected to join the Yankees major league squad “in the very near future.” Now that Manny Banuelos has been promoted to Scranton-Wilkes Barres, other top prospects, Austin Romine, and Dellin Betances are expected to join the Triple-A team soon. This is according to sources close to the organization.

Montero will be a welcome addition to the ballclub, when he does get promoted, as he has hit .307 AVG / .361 OBP / .557 SLG against left-handed pitchers. I can see Montero getting a good amount of time in the majors as the designated hitter against lefties.

and here are your morning links.

* Cashman sees no reason for change.

Game Review from MLB.com’s Matt Fortuna:

NEW YORK — Joe Girardi said before Sunday’s game that the only communication he would have with general manager Brian Cashman before the 4 p.m. non-waiver Trade Deadline would be if he had to pull a player from the Yankees’ game against the Orioles.

Many held their breath in the fourth inning when Francisco Cervelli stepped to the on-deck circle instead of Derek Jeter. Everyone knew better than to think Cashman had traded Jeter, but it was unclear just how long the shortstop would be out after taking a pitch on his right hand to lead off the third inning.
