Game 131 | Yankees @ Orioles

Nova looking for win #14

Lineups:

Derek Jeter SS
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Andruw Jones DH
Russell Martin C
Eduardo Nunez 3B
Brett Gardner LF

Pitchers:

Ivan Nova (13-4) vs. Brian Matusz (1-6, 8.92)

Pregame Notes:

Bartolo Colon allowed just two runs on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings on Sunday, but took the loss in New York’s 2-0 setback in game one of a doubleheader in Baltimore.

Colon struck out four and walked none in just his second quality start in six outings. He’ll finish August with a 4.85 ERA compiled over 29 2/3 innings after entering the month with a 3.30 mark. For the season, he’s now 8-9 with a 3.63 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.

Mark Teixeira went 3-for-4 as the Yankees dropped game one of a doubleheader to the Orioles on Sunday.

All three hits were singles. The three-hit day was just Teixeira’s sixth of the year. After batting a career-low .256 last season, Teixeira, currently hitting .248, is on pace to turn in another career low in 2011.

Game 130 | Yankees @ Orioles

Hopefully Colon can eat some innings and give the bullpen a rest.

Lineups:

Derek Jeter DH
Curtis Granderson CF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Nick Swisher RF
Andruw Jones LF
Eduardo Nunez SS
Francisco Cervelli C

Pitchers:

Bartolo Colon (8-8, 3.71) vs. Zach Britton (7-9, 4.54)

Pregame Notes:

Freddy Garcia will return from the disabled list to start Monday.

Garcia had been slated to return over the weekend, but Hurricane Irene saw to it that that didn’t happen. He’ll be followed by CC Sabathia, Phil Hughes and A.J. Burnett.

Morning Bits: Off Days, Cashman

Yankees as you are fully aware were off yesterday as both games were not played.  Two games are scheduled for today.  We shall see if they play both or just one.  Boston did play both games yesterday and won both of them.

Here are some links for on you this rain and wind soaked day.  Be safe everyone.

* Yankees not a fan of losing another off day.  I believe they only have one off day in the whole month of September.

* Yankee fans have GM Brian Cashman to thank for Burnett and all of his troubles.

* Chavez has something to offer.

Sunday’s Double Header Starters

Sunday’s Double Header Starters

The Yankees announced that they’ll go with Bartolo Colon and Ivan Nova in Sunday’s doubleheader against the Orioles.

No surprise here. Colon will face off against Zach Britton in the first game, while Nova will be opposed by Brian Matusz in the second.
