Morning Bits: Mariano, Staten Island Yankees, Feliciano, A-Rod

Yankees were off yesterday but they move a game closer to making the playoffs since Boston lost.  The Yankees open up a new series tonight at Toronto.

The Yankee Magic Number is now at 10.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and here are your morning links…

* Where does Mariano rank in Yankee history?

* Staten Island Yankees not going anywhere Team president says.

* Yankees Feliciano likely out next season as well.

* A-Rod’s thumb is likely on ongoing issue.

  1. I can’t believe the Yankees paid Feliciano $8 Million to do…nothing. Even A.J Burnett works somewhat for his money. But then again, the Mets abused Feliciano, we just happened to get the messed up leftovers.

  2. Yet if they didn’t sign a lefty, everybody would be criticizing them in the beginning of the year anyway. Nothing you can do.

  3. 2 lefties that I wanted at the time:

    1) Scott Downs – proven in the AL East, is great vs righties and downright unhittable for lefties. Would have cost an extra yr and an extra $1M per season but would have been well worth it

    2) Randy Choate – could have had him on a cheap 1 year deal….he’s had a great season BUT he also blew out his elbow on August 15th
