NLCS Game 6 Open Thread

We have one team (Texas) in the world series and they sit back and wait for the winner of this series.  With a pretty bad Sunday night football game on tonight this game should have some interest.  Below are the start times and match ups. Enjoy.

Yankees Look For In-House Fixes This Winter

Yankees Look For In-House Fixes This Winter

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, The Yankees will be looking for in-house fixes during the 2011 offseason. Sherman believes that Jesus Montero could be used as trade bait for a starting pitcher and to open the DH slot, but a team official for the Yankees said that it wouldn’t make much sense to throw dollars and to add risk to the offense. Sherman also said that he doesn’t understand why the Yankees would make such a strong affinity for soon to be free agent left-hander C.J Wilson.

Rangers sources told CBS Sports’ Danny Knobler that there’s “no way” the club will make a large free agent offer this winter to left-hander CC Sabathia.

Sabathia is expected to opt out of his contract with the Yankees this offseason, and a report from ESPN New York earlier this week stated that the Rangers were prepared to “throw a boatload of money at him.” But people inside the Texas front office are now denying that supposed plan. Perhaps the report was a setup by Sabathia’s agent.

CC Sabathia’s agent, Brian Peters, has backed off a bit from his recent comment to ESPN.com that he will “exhaust all efforts to reach a new agreement (with the Yankees).”

“I really don’t want to comment one way or another,” Peters said Saturday when reached by the New York Post. We wouldn’t read too much into the comment (or lack thereof), as most everyone is anticipating that the Yankees will be the heavy favorites to re-sign Sabathia after he opts out of his current deal. The big left-hander will surely receive interest from multiple teams, but it would be a big surprise if he’s not back in pinstripes next season.

Morning Bits: Cashman, Fielder

Good morning all. The Rangers defeated the Tigers last night and have advanced to the World Series. Tonight, St. Louis looks to win Game 6 versus the Brewers to also advance to the World Series. Here are your morning links:

— In Bill Madden’s opinion, Brian Cashman has always been loyal to the Yankees.

— It looks as if Cashman will have a contract with the Yankees sometime next week.

— John Harper of the NY Daily News says if C.C. signs elsewhere, the Yanks may move their focus to Prince Fielder.

Have a great day everyone.
