Yankees announce Spring Training schedule

The New York Yankees have announced their Spring Training schedule today, scheduling 33 games including 5 exhibition games: One v.s the University of South Florida, 2 v.s the Miami Marlins & 2 v.s the New York Mets. March 3, 2012 is when the Yankees are scheduled to play the Philadelphia Phillies at Bright House Field in Clearwater following a game on March 4, 2012 at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

The Yankees have 15 home games and play v.s each of the Yankees American League East rivals: Tampa Bay Rays (March 5, 2012 @ 1:05pm), Boston Red Sox (March 13 @ 7:05pm), Toronto Blue Jays (March 27, 2012 @ 7:05pm) & the Baltimore Orioles (March 29 @ 7:05pm). The Yankees will also face former postseason foes the Philadelphia Phillies (March 4, 2012 & March 11, 2012 @ 1:05pm & March 30, 2012 @ 7:05pm) & the Detroit Tigers (March 25 @ 1:05pm).

This is the latest Spring Training start since 2005 when they also started on March 3, 2012.

The Yankees also have 2 exhibition games v.s the Miami Marlins on April 1, 2012 @ 1:10pm & April 2, 2012 @ 7:10pm. The Yankees will then play the New York Mets for the first time since 1996 on April 3, 2012 @2:10pm & April 4, 2012 @ 12:05pm.

Season tickets for the 2012 Spring Training season are now on sale at www.steinbrennerfield.com or www.yankees.com. Individual ticket sales will be on December 2, 2011 at 10:00am at the Steinbrenner Field box office, http://www.yankees.com or by calling Ticketmaster.

Pitchers and catchers report on February 20, 2012 with their first workout session on February 21, 2012. Position players report on February 25, 2012 with the full club’s workout on February 26, 2012.

  1. Can’t wait for spring training. Love to see the young guys mixing in with the Vets.

  2. Love spring training also….but, over a 100 days to go. I relish this part of the year, it’s kind of like a Broadway play, when all the characters, are not known until the end….. This upgrade of the rotation….if true…can be done swiftly..(thanks to resources)..and, if common sense, and baseball intelligence is used….. Why not 1-2 other position players? Younger, stronger, smarter, more athletic?… Someone,… no one has thought of? A rookie, who is ready!
    Thoughts like these, make you think of spring training, when you wake up in the middle of a cold January night.
    Just a few thoughts, at the end of Nov, 10th.
