Yankees “not confident” Hiroyuki Nakajima will sign

by Matt S.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that the Yankees are “not confident” Hiroyuki Nakajima will sign and instead will remain in Japan.

The Yankees won the negotiating rights for Nakajima for $2 million, but they view him only as a potential bench option and think they might not be able to offer what he wants to be convinced to go to the states. They’ll have 30 days to try and work out a deal with the shortstop’s representatives.

  1. Just learned this today. If the yankees don’t sign him and they can’t reach an agreement after the 30 days the Yankees get that money back.
