Mason Williams more defensively dynamic than Gardner?

by Mike D.

Via Josh Norris, the Trentonian’s Thunder beat writer, a scout greatly praised the defense of Yankees outfield prospect Mason Williams. He said that the 20 year old’s glove-work is the best part of his game, and that as of now, Williams could be an above-average MLB center-fielder. Norris went on to include the scout’s comparison of Williams to Brett Gardner saying, “Defensively, I think Mason’s probably a little more dynamic.” That’s saying a lot considering Gardner is one of the top outfielders in the game. If you don’t know much about this exciting prospect, definitely give Sweeny Murti of WFAN’s article on him a read.

  1. Here are his stats. He does seem impressive. Looking forward to seeing him move up a league this year to see what he can do against better competition.

  2. I’d like to see Mason Williams in action before I compare him to Gardner.

  3. All we can compare is their year they both had at Staten Island
