Andruw Jones is back for another season

by Matt S.

Jon Heyman of reports that Andruw Jones has re-signed with the Yankees on a one-year, $2 million deal.  The contract also contains a possible $1.4 million more that Jones can earn in incentives. Jones batted .247/.356/.495 with 13 homers, 33 RBI and an .851 OPS over 222 plate appearances this past season and was dangerous against southpaws, boasting a .926 OPS against them. He figures to again see a few starts per week in the outfield and at the DH spot.

  1. Looks like Cashman didn’t leave early for the Holiday break. Good to see him back.

  2. This seemed inevitable as its a good match for both parties. Just seemed Andruw was trying to squeeze every available dollar he could. Will be interesting to see what the incentives are. They also have to drop someone from the 40-man roster. Kevin Whelan & brad Meyers are possibilities I thought they could put injured players like Feliciano on the 60-day DL but maybe thats not til season starts. Justin Maxwell or Melky Mesa are possible too but the Yanks need OF depth in AAA..

    • Can you just release someone that’s on the DL? If they can they should just release Feliciano. It’s not like they expect him to pitch this year after having surgery. And they certainly can’t be thinking about picking up his 2013 option.

  3. There is no DL in the off season. Bye bye Maxwell…

  4. This probably means no to Cespedes but hopefully the Yankees can scoop up Soler.

  5. Andruw Jones is back? Great…:/ (I’m not a big fan of Jones).
