Morning Bits: Burnett, Wildcard

Good morning and Happy Sunday to all! This Sunday is special because in exactly 1 week, Pitchers and Catchers report to Spring Training. Let’s move on to the Morning Links.

  1. Just one quick comment about the piece on the “extra” wild card. Approval has NOT yet been given for it to start this upcoming season. Selig has expressed his desire that, that be the case, but all the details have not yet been worked out. And as per the New CBA the Players union must give it’s approval by March 1st.

    You don’t want to read the posts on this one. As they say somewhere; “They ain’t got no learnings”.
    I sometimes marvel at the players some of these fans will give up for a player they think is real good. Three or four of our top up and comers for a mid-line player doesn’t make any sense to me. Why would the Yankees go back to a system that didn’t work and destroyed our Minor leagues years ago?
    Make trades like that and we may get a big star, for now but….what about the next few years trying to come up with more young players? The deck is now stacked against us more then ever before.
