Morning Bits: A-Rod, Garcia, The A-Team?

Good morning all and welcome to Monday.  I hope you all had a nice weekend.  Lot’s of Yankee talk since the Yankees have a couple spring training games under the belt.  Let’s get right to to the links.  As always any thought you have on the articles leave them in the comments.

* The Record reports that Freddy Garcia is ready for battle.

* The Wall Street Journal says the Yankees are the real “A-Team.”

* The Journal News reports that A-Rod is off to a strong start.

* Wallace Matthews reports that Garcia takes the lead for the 5th spot.

* Bryan Hoch reports A-Rod doing less to achieve more.

  1. Just imagine if A-Rod can throw up some old time numbers or close to those numbers. I know that’s jumping the guy this early in spring training but it would make this season that much more enjoyable.

  2. I don’t think Wallace Matthews could say that Freddy Garcia took the lead for the 5th spot in the rotation. To be fair, Hughes hasn’t even pitched yet. I think Hughes should pitch first before we decide whose in the lead for the 5th spot.

  3. UYF and Doug what are your thoughts on spring training so far?

    • Matt, I have liked Almonte, Phelps, and Baneulos the most. They all look like they could play in the majors now. I also liked Murphy,Mitchell, Joseph, and Whitley. I want to see Warren and Romine. Dickerson and Wise are major leaguers, it’s just a matter of if their is a spot for them.

  4. I’m impress by some of the young guys that haven’t gotten as much recognition as some of the others, like Mitchell and Phelps. I think the future for Yankees looks pretty darn good.

  5. Sometimes in spring training at the end of the game, the AAA and AA players are playing again’st each other. That’s why it’s hard to evaluate players in the spring. Aumont is not a major leaguer, while Halliday, Pineiro, and Bastardo are.

  6. We should put Arod in a bubble until April 6th. Shrink wrap is another option. Seriously, don’t even think about letting him play unless the field is in perfect condition.
