Spring Training Notes: 3/5/12

Eduardo Nunez & Jimmy Rollins during today's 9-3 loss to the Phillies

Good evening everyone! Today the Yankees took on the Phillies today in the final game of a three game set…but the Yankees walked away with the loss. Here are some of today’s note from Spring Training.

— CC Sabathia & Phil Hughes are set to take on the Pirates tomorrow afternoon. They are slated to take on 2 innings each.

— Eduardo Nunez was hit on the wrist today during the Yankees 9-3 loss vs. the Phillies. Nunez was diagnosed with a wrist contusion and was taken to Tampa for X-Rays. Luckily Nunez’s X-Rays came back negative & Girardi will give Nunez a few days off.

— David Robertson’s location was a bit off during his 1 inning of work today. Although he was able to get 2 pop-ups to start the inning, he gave up a walk to Jimmy Rollins, gave up 2 stolen bases and allowed an RBI base hit vs. Placido Polanco.

— Michael Pineda’s outing today against the Phillies was impressive. He worked the fastball and had his change-up going for him. Russell Martin wants Pineda to hone the change-up and to continue working on it.

There are some other baseball games on tonight if you aren’t done with baseball for today. Here are following games that can be viewed:

  1. Nationals vs. Mets (SNY)
  2. Red Sox vs. Twins (NESN, FSNO)
  3. Pirates vs. Orioles (MASN)
  4. Brewers vs. Giants (CSBA)

Also tomorrow’s game is not a televised game but if you have a subscription to MLB.TV then you can listen to a Pirates radio broadcast of the game.

Have a good night everyone!

  1. Luckily the Nunez injury wasn’t serious. Imagine Pena being the backup for most of the year.

  2. Video on Pineda from today. Enjoy.

  3. Where is Daniel Warren? I want to see him pitch.

  4. Check that, Adam Warren.

  5. I just Googled him, I see he pitched two scoreless innings agains’t South Florida. Hope to see him pitch this week. He did a great job in AAA last year, I would think he might be one of the first called up during the year.
