Morning Bits: Ibanez, Robertson, Teixeira

Good morning it’s Friday and I couldn’t be more excited for this week to end.  Robertson was injured yesterday and we should learn more about that today.  I wish you all a great weekend.  Now onto the links…..

* Bryan Hoch of mlb.com says the Ibanez looks comfortable in right field.

* Sports Illustrated has the latest on Robertson’s foot.

* From mlb.com’s Matthew Leach writes that Mark Teixeira needn’t change his style completely.

Quick video for you on Ibanez becoming a Yankee.

  2. Just read this on MLBTR. If anyone’s interested in Matt Cain and IF he’ll hit FA.

    Latest On Matt Cain
By Ben Nicholson-Smith [March 9 at 7:55am CST]
It appeared earlier this week that the Giants and Matt Cain had built momentum toward an extension. One person in the know even said there’s no chance the 2013 free agent signs for less than $100MM. Here are today’s updates on talks between Cain and the Giants:

Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com suggests the Giants could work out extensions for Cain and Madison Bumgarner within the week. The sides have been working late and the Giants like package announcements, Baggarly tweets. MLBTR has previewed possible extensions for Cain and Bumgarner this past offseason.

More and more and more young quality pitchers are being locked up for longer terms by their current teams it seems. This ever increasing trend is making me even more glad the Yankees were able to trade for Pineda this past winter. I’m confident he will be a very good one.

  3. uyf, I agree, Pineda was a great trade by Cashman, no one saw it coming. It was a good trade for both teams which keeps the Yanks in the mix for future trades. Pineda gives the Yanks a good young pitcher under control which was a must with all their big contracts. Cashman has put the franchise back on solid ground, know it’s up to the players to perform.

  4. Just saw this UPDATE on Robertson, probably the best possible news under the circumstances:

Robertson has bone bruise. Will stay in walking boot until Mon. Then boot will be removed and he will work his way back. Good news for Yanks
