Yankees hit 5 HR’s in 11-9 win vs. Astros

The Yankees traveled to visit the Houston Astros one last time in Florida before the season begins on Friday and the game turned into an absolute slug-fest as the Yankees were able to pour out 5 HR’s during the game.

Adam Warren was selected to have the start today, going 5.2 IP giving up 6R on 10H but the story was the Yankees offense. The Yankees hit 5 HR’s and there were 9 HR’s combined in a game that was ultimately shortened in the top of the 9th due to rain. Robinson Cano, Raul Ibanez & Jose Gil each hit one HR while Dante Bichette Jr. (who filled in for Eduardo Nunez) had 2 HR’s, both on the first pitch.

Injury Update: Michael Pineda hit the 15 Day DL with shoulder tendinitis while Cesar Cabral had a stress fracture in his elbow and will most likely go on the DL.

WHAT’S NEXT: Tomorrow the Yankees will take a trip to Miami and have the honor of playing against the Marlins to work out the kinks of the new Marlins Ballpark. The game will be on YES Network at 1:10pm. If you are able to, this is a must not miss game.

  1. That nonsense they have in center field in that ballpark is gross. I also read that ballpark has a night club as well and to get to the field is only 2 ways and is a traffic nightmare.

    • Can the Yankees have a night club inside Yankee Stadium too? (just kidding) 🙂

    • Really? Only 2 gates to get into the ballpark? Makes you appreciate Yankee Stadium with the large amount of gates/entrances it has.

      • sorry should have been more clear. 2 main “roads” to get to the stadium.

        • Mike here is the quote from the article actually found it online below is the link about the stadium everyone should give it a read.

“The hurdles to 3 million fans a year don’t end there. The train stations are too far away for comfortable strolling. And if the park’s soft opening in early March is any indication, it will be little easier arriving by car. With two parking garages holding fewer than 6,000 vehicles — and those spaces largely promised to VIPs — fans driving in for a Marlins exhibition game had to endure a jam on the nearby Dolphin Expressway, then snarled as they sought out driveways and front yards to park in. During the season, fans coming from the nearby 12th Avenue Bridge won’t fare much better — especially when the drawbridge is up.”

  2. Very eager to see tomorrow’s game. Marlins Park and it’s ugly center-field display will be interesting to see finally in action. Hopefully the Yanks play their regulars for most of the game. Would be a nice thank you to all Yankee fans in Florida and in attendance tomorrow.

  3. Guys, I had the time wrong for the Yankees vs. Marlins game. The game begins at 1:10pm, not at 7:05. Just thought you should know. 🙂
