  1. 100 years ago the Highlanders finished 55 games behind the Red Sox.

  2. Love the new throwback jerseys. Kind of makes me wish that the Yankees would wear this all the time.

    • They look very cool but I would also like to see them with the player’s number smaller then the NY on right side on the front in burgundy.

  3. listening at work. Actually chose the boston broadcast to avoid Sterling.

    • Bro I do the same thing lol. I have sirius so if i have to listen in the car its always the opposing team’s broadcast lol

    • I like watching the other teams broadcast, I hate Micheal Kay, he has no clue as a annoucner. I happen to love Sterling.

      • Doug you and I agree with you first statement. I can’t stand Michael Kay. I only listen to him on ESPN when Francessa in on a commercial break. Kay comes off as a know it all.

        • Matt he always says the same thing over an over! I watch the games most of the time with the sound off.

          • I am always in the minority when it comes to Kay. I really enjoy him. Sterling on the other hand is a complete joke.

        • I listen to Francessa over Kay to. But you can’t say Francessa doesn’t come off as a know it all either though lol

          • he can but I think as he is getting old admits more mistakes he makes then in the past. Also Francessa has the knowledge of football where listening to Kay talk about football is brutal.

  4. Fenway 100 years old, I’ve been there 6 times since 1966, never thought of it as a great park to watch a game, maybe it was the seats that I had. Always seemed to be behind a big support collum which obstructed my view. The facilities were also poor.

  5. The Bombers are out in force today. Too bad their all with no one on. Buchholz looks like a shell of himself, he is not fooling anyone.

  6. How cool is this, David Cone said that Caroline Kennedy called him and asked him to be her pitching coach, because she was throwing out the pitch for the 100 year day. He accepted, they met in Central Park.

  7. Congradulations to A-Rod for passing Griffey on the Home He never gets his due!

    • Yup good to see him get it. Just updated the graphic of the the move up the all time home run list for him on the right hand side of the page. Now can he get 29 more this year to move tie Mays. I’m not sure about that but if he does that would be awesome.

  8. Pineda and Pettite are on the way, they will make an impact on the season. Nova looks too have made the next step, he could be a #2. I loved the way he pitched today again’st a good team.

    • C.C. Kuroda, Nova, Pettitte, Pineda……..I’d say trade Hughes or Garcia but i don’t see much trade value in them.

      • I agree Matt.

      • Nova, has really improved his K/9 9.47, and BB/9 0.95 so far this year. He has become a winning machine. I’d like to see his BABIP go down some .389.

        • You have to love what Nova gives the Yankees he was never a highly thought of prospect and he is does is give them chances to win.

          • Nova didn’t have sexy numbers as a young prospect so people who looked at numbers weren’t impressed. however, his size, mechanics and velocity were always there – so much so that San Diego took him in the Rule 5 draft in 2009 out of A-ball.

Thankfully the Yanks got him back and he started getting better results. He’s the type of pitcher who can continue to improve because he has the basics of size, mechanics & velo. He has improved every yr since 2008 including in the majors. Since the beginning of last yr, he has improved his Curveball and added a Slider. He’s also a guy who can develop a Sinker and Cutter as he matures. Should be a rock solid #3 for the Yanks for years.

            • Not sure where you were going with this, but it sounded like you were defending his prospect status. Unfortunately you shot that argument in the foot with the San Diego thing, as they gave Nova back. So clearly the Yankees weren’t the only ones that didn’t see him as a valuable pitcher at the MLB level.

  9. Buchholz and Hughes seem to be in the same boat, both appear to have the stuff to succeed in the majors, yet both don’t have the location. Like they say with the housing market, location. location. location.
