Morning Bits: Rodriguez, Nunez, Gardner

Good morning everyone and a happy Wednesday to you all! Tonight the Yankees play the series finale vs. the Baltimore Orioles! Here are your morning links.

— Alex Rodriguez did something so shocking that it should almost be illegal–he bunted in yesterday’s game. Yes because we are paying A-Rod almost $300 Million to bunt himself on base. A-Rod–we have Brett Gardner for that.

— Eduardo Nunez is a work in ‘progress’ when it comes to fielding in LF. That ball that Nunez dropped in left yesterday–Gardner would have caught that, right?

— Speaking of Gardner, Joe Girardi says Gardner most likely will not come off the DL tomorrow as planned. It’s because Girardi wants to send Gardner on a little trip–back to the minors for a rehab program. I can’t be the only one desperately screaming, “Joe, what are you thinking? We need him back now!”–or am I?

  1. Pinstripes 4 Life

I thought the ARod bunt was a nice touch, no one on and it caught everyone off guard. Yes, he is paid for HR’s but he is also paid to get on base and help win games. If hitting wasn’t so shoddy yesterday we could have got some runs out of that.

Let’s not forget that Nunez is primarily an infielder. Don’t get me wrong, I am anxiously awaiting Gardner’s return just like everyone else.

Hughes let some slip last night but overall it was a decent performance. Not getting any run support will make even the best of pitchers look weak.

  2. If you consider Nunez’s range I don’t think he did to bad the last two nights he probably got to a few balls that the other options would not have reached, that said I still want Gardner’s D back as soon as possible.
As far as Arod bunting I think it is great any time you reach bass with your team down that much you are helping, a home run in that situation is not helping as much as a rally could have,
