Morning Bits: Soriano, Staten Island Yankees, Nova, Gary Sanchez

Good morning all tough game to watch last night.   To me what’s good about baseball is we have another game today to wash out the memories from last night.   Enjoy the day.

Now onto the links…

Marc Carig of The Star Ledger says the Yankees have enough pieces for building the bridge to Soriano.

— Carig also writes that Ivan Nova is making progress and could be ready for his next start.

The Daily News reports of the new ownership for the Staten Island Yankees.

— Here is the recap of last nights Empire State Yankees (Scranton Wilkes) AAA game.

— Gary Sanchez had a big day yesterday.  Here is the recap.

  1. Heck guys, I am so despite for someone able to hit with runners in scoring position, I say bring up Cisco! He was our best clutch hitter when he was up here! Another one to bring up is Nunez, he just hits the ball. If we can put up with one good hitter with a so so glove, we can do the same with Nunez!
I think a fan or two has said Joe G. will not play any of the young guys unless Cashman tells him! Look around, do you see any young guys on the bench? Joe T., was the one that didn’t follow orders from Cashman, not Joe G!
After looking up and reading about Mark Montgomery, I say Bring him on up, put him in the BP as a short man (like D-Rob etc.). I have a caveat for this guy…I have never seen him pitch so…I made some calls to a few that have seen him, they more or less agree with Mike Rosenbaum (Bleacher Report)…he can do it now!
I still would like to have Nunez stay in AAA for a while more.

    • Gotta love Montgomery’s slider and ability to strike people out. He’ll be up in the Yankee pen by next year I’d say. He’s done a better job of limiting walks this year and should get promoted to AA very soon.
