Game 105 Lineup: Mariners vs. Yankees

Lineup vs. Mariners:

Curtis Granderson CF
Derek Jeter SS
Robinson Cano 2B
Mark Teixeira 1B
Raul Ibanez DH
Nick Swisher RF
Eric Chavez 3B
Ichiro Suzuki LF
Russell Martin C

CC Sabathia LHP

Pre-game Notes:

— The Yankees had designated reserve IF Ramiro Pena for assignment. If Pena doesn’t clear waivers then he will be sent to Scranton and will come off the 40 man roster.

— The Yankees released Dewayne Wise after they DFA’d him when CC Sabathia came back from the DL. The Yankees wanted to send him to Scranton but Wise declined the offer.

— The Yankees Facebook page was hacked yesterday with reports that Derek Jeter was “out for the rest of the season.” That wasn’t the odd part, the odd part was what Jeter was out for the rest of the season for (which I won’t post here). Other teams Facebook pages were hacked as well.

Andrew Brackman (former Yankee Killer B) was designated for assignment by the Cincinatti Reds.

  1. Good to see Tex in the lineup!!!!

  2. Good to see Teix back.

Odd lineup though; Joe gets way to caught up in the whole L/R/L/R crap.

  3. Dumb lineup….let’s bat the most prolific HR hitter fhe last 2 years first??? So our 2 worst OBP guys are up before him……. Grandy first name should be Solo.

  4. My lineup with the players going today.

    How about you?

  5. Interview with Cano on the MLB Ch. coming up after the commercial.

  6. Thats the right lineup Matt. A 5 year old knows better.

  7. Ken the Mickey Mantle expert where are you hiding ? Please give us your answers.

    1. What was Mickeys # when he first came up?
    2. Who is Mickey named after?
    3. How many times did he hit the facade?
    4. What was his original position?

  8. Before you ask Twasp I don’t know how much the ball costs know after a double off the Mariners. hahhahah

  9. It’s worth more than if he had made out …..according to the WPA logic. 🙂

  10. Matt – where is Fish?

  11. Recently promoted Saxon Butler had an RBI Single in his first at bat with the River Dogs.

  12. Haven’t seen this brought up on here. Mason Williams is out for the year after having labrum surgery.

  13. The Grandyman can……. Nice early lead for C.C.

  14. Oh No twasp your boy Damon is off of the Indians. Looks like no 3,000 hits for him.

  15. With no off days coming up I think they let C.C. get the complete game here to rest the bullpen.

  16. Good evening Ken. Thoughts on tonights game? C.C. looked pretty good.

    • Sorry to be late on an answer but, here it is anyhow.
CC is being CC, gave up 3 runs big deal still won.
The thing I was impressed with was Grandersons’ hit in the 1st inning driving in runs without a HR!

    • Matt, as an ex pitcher I have to say that when your coming off a minor injury your first outing is usually good, second is usually bad, and third you feel back to normal. CC looked back to normal last night. He is a horse, a true ace, he has three out pitches. CC isn’t unhitable like Verlander anymore, but he is still an ace. Remember the Seattle team had just won 7 games in a row, they are hot right now. Some hot humid days coming up, should be some high scoring games.

  17. Yankees 2012 Draft Pick Corey Black had a good line for Staten Island tonight.

    6.0IP, 4H, 1R, 1ER, 1BB, 5K, his era is now 2.28

I just tweeted him and how he felt tonight this was his response.

    • Matt, didn’t Corey pitch for Seton Hall a few years ago? Nice to see a home boy do well, even though his progess has been slow. Corey is probably pitching for his baseball life right now being demoted to Staten Island.

      • you might have him mixed up with someone else Doug. Corey black was drafted this year in the 4th round. He went to Faulkner University.

      • Doug, you are thinking of Sean Black. 2nd round pick out of HS but decided to go to Seton Hall. he was a raw skinny kid without much pitching experience….struggled his first 2 yrs in college but had a good junior yr and the Yanks took him in the 7th rd. Showed good promise his first 2 yrs in Rookie & LoA but has had back to back rough yrs in Tampa.

  18. First Matsui now Damon……. Next?

    Ken says Jeter!

  19. Ha ha … da man Oldjeterhater07.
