  1. I still don’t like Curtis leading off. This lineup bothers me.

  2. Hey Matt ,I hear you ,but there are not alot of options on this team.

    • Morning BP. With the players he wants to play today what order would you put them in? I just don’t like Curtis leading off.

      • If Ichiro was Ichiro which appears he’s not, I would go with this.

        • Ballpark, come to think on it I like that line-up for many reasons, some of which are;
1-Ichiro is a lead-off hitter, give him another chance at it
2-Jeter is getting hits but, without someone knocking him in, what good are they? With Ichiro on base (Hopefully more often) Jeters hits mean much more.
3-Cano is cano and must clean-up his act, swinging at bad pitches is not good…they are bad pitches for a reason.
4-With his power out put he is in the right place, but he needs to get more hits not more SO’s.
5-Tex, what one sees is what one gets.
6-Swisher is ok almost any where
7-Ibanez all season numbers are better than I expected!
8-All though he is having an ok year, we could use more from him.
          9-Stewart is a back-up but, I like his defence.
Just thoughts that come to my screwy mind, what about anyone out there?

          • Ichiro is a perfect replacement for Gardner, he should be hitting eighth or nineth

            • doug…
I must disagree with you on that assessment of Ichy. He is not the same hitter he was! As of last hitting numbers, Brett is a much better hitter, counting last year and this year.
Maybe, Joe hopes he can get more hits out of him as a lead-off hitter (I also think he may) we will see!

  3. I don’t like Granderson leading off at all. One thing, he strikes out a lot. Another thing, if he hits home runs with no one on base then it won’t make much of a difference. I’d rather have him either batting 2nd, 3rd or 4th so that if there are runners on base and he hits one out, it could be 3-0 instead of 1-0.

  4. Looks like all you second quessers were wrong, Raul was the key man today! Baseball is a hard game to second quess. I’m sure Girardi had a good reason for hitting Grandy one today.

  5. Doug – your comment ” I’m sure Girardi had a good reason for hitting Grandy one today” and “all you second guessers were wrong” sounds like you don’t like when people have a different opinion from Girardi regarding what the lineup should be?

  6. Ha ha …great article on the great Jeter, Matt.

    I particularly love this paragraph:

That thought is now erased from Michael’s mind and NEARLY everyone else’s, for that matter, because day-in and day-out Jeter shows he is far from done. He may be in overtime of his Hall of Fame career, but there are no signs that say the buzzer is about to go off.

  7. 5. Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees; signed through 2017, owed $123 million plus another $30 million for home-run milestones: A-Rod will be 42 when his contract expires, and he’s already slipping. He’s gone from a .300/30/100 slash line to something like .270/20/80 – in other words, he’s become an average player with nowhere to go but down. With 644 career home runs, he’ll reach some cool milestones, but he’ll get paid extra for those.

Ken – Arod is not ovepaid….he’s under- boli’d.
