HERE is the list of the top 100 hits leaders, re-oranzied to show how many 150+ hit seasons each player had
there are numerous further ways to analyze this list
we can analyze this in terms of hall of fame ,…. as well as pre 1950 and post 1950,….
the top 100 all time hits leaders have 2468 to 4256 hits
the next active players to break into the top 100, thus removing the bottom players are abreu 2437 111th place, todd helton 2429 113th place, jim thome 2328 134th place, carlos lee 2273 150th place
not for nithing, but some of the greatest players are not on the list, mickey mantle, joe dimagio,….. but those are just 2 of the extremely few exceptions to the list
the list encompses all the greats of the game from 1877 to present
i emplore you, everyone within my reach on here,.. to study the list,…. and look into the facts

AS FAR AS THE LIOST GOES,.. IT IS CONMTAINING THE TOP 100 HIT LEADERS, …. if can go fdurther down this list and show pl;ayerswith less than 2458 hits could also be medium on the 150 plus hgit seasons,…. such as dimaggion, andmanbtle, and others,…anyone want me to continue the list?
maybe go to the top 160 hit leaders of all time?
Very nice list Jim2244 but, of the first 40 hitters 15 of them were power hitters. I think it is hard to compare power hitters to other hitters, even though the power guys stacked up ok.
Very well done.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
right, bujt drawing the l,ine at 150 hits,…. gives every kind of hitter a shot to get their hits,….
not just slap hitters, but all hitters
150 hits is not a lot to ask for,… especially when you look at it and study the list,.. the top 100 hit leaders vs the 30,000 pl;ayers that have pl;ayed in mlb
most, 99.9999999 percent of all players have failed
whicj makes what the players on this liost, mean that much more
Delia- if Ichy keeps hitting.320 do you sign him for next year and start him over Gardner (.265)?
I’m pulling for the A’s to tie this game then send it into a 20 plus extra inning game.
I like the lineup. I wonder what Ibanez numbers are against Dice K.
He’s 3 for 14 (.214) against Dice K. 2 of the hits were a double and a HR.
Plus side is his OBP is .421 against Dice K so he’s probably in the lineup because he *snaps fingers* gets on base.
This lineup stinks like usual. Girardi is a moron. Why is Alex starting? He can’t hit Dice K. Chavez should start tonight with Alex on the bench.
Hankies – that is exactly what TWASP was thinking , Arod should sit against RH Mats. And Chavez who can hit and field better than Arod should be playing 3rd.
Hankies – Arod the Albatross can’t hit anybody right now….he’s in a terrible slump….for the good of the team …bench the ego….and let’s win the game.
why do you want to a’s to tie, it doesnt even matter, i think,….. the yankess have the natural tie breaker against the rangers,. and if the a;’s win,…. the yankees lose, the yankees can satill break the tie by winning the half game , game 163, against baltimore if balktimore wins and the yankees lose
i rather have the rangers win
i rather, under the ways things are, for the tigers-rangers- to battle each other in the alds, so at least one of those powerhouses are knocked out
in other words, the yankees clinch the number one seed by winning tonight, no matter what,.. or losing tonight and winning tomorrow night in game 163, no matter what,….. and it doesnt matter what the a’s do
we should be rooting for the rangers to beat the a’s
cause is the a’s win,.. the rangers beat the baltimore in the one game wilcard,.. then the yankees get the rangers in the alds—- that is the last thing a yankee fan should want,.. the rangers are a powerhouse
the yankees have the weird in-between thing goingt on,…. cause the get the number one seed by winning toght, no matter what, or they get the number one seed by losging toght, baltimore winning, and the yankees winning tomorrow night, no matter what
it doesnt matter what any other teram does
the yankees get the number one seed, by winning tonight or tomorrow night
thats is
there is no other possible scnerio
the weird thing comes into place if if the yankees lose, and baltimore loses , and the a’s win—— now it is a tie breaker between the yankees and a’s —–
I STILL HAVE NO CONFIRMATUION, IF THAT CASE OCCURS,…. THAT THE YANKEES GET THE NUMBER ONE SEED
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFO ON THIS?
AND HOW DEEP INTO THE OFFICIAL MLB RULES, WOULD THE TIE BREAKER GO BETWEENH THE A’S AND YANKEES
MIKE FRANCESA’S TEAM COULDNT FIGURE IT OUT YESTERDAY
THGIS COULD HAPPEN
DOES IT GO LIKE INTO THR 6THJ OR 7TH TIEBREAKER TO NET RUNS AGAINST COMMON OPPENENTS?
HOW FAR DOES IT GO DOWN THIS LIST?
I HAVNT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT IT
SO, WITHOUT FUTHER CONMFIRMATION ON THE A;S SCNERIO,…. if the a’s win this game now,…. and thery are up 8-5 in the 6th,……
yankees fans should be rooting tonight for baltimore to win
this way, we can get the number one seed by winning tonight, or losing tonight and winning tommorow night, so we get it by the natural 1/2 game
unless their is another rule that that dont count
if the a’s win and both baltimore and ythe yankees lose,… then it goes to tie breakers in rules of mlb between the a’s and yankees for the number one seed
the yankees i guess lose thart, dont they?
so no matter what ,.. ROOT FOR THE ORIELS TO WIN
‘
OK?
Here Jim. LoHud Yankees explained all the scenarios the Yankees could be in come after the game. Give it a read. 🙂
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2012/10/03/pregame-notes-waiting-for-a-clear-picture/
Delia….thank you for putting up tonight’s line-up. Again, a very provocative….yet good enough line-up to get the job done. The steady hand of Joe Girardi, on their shoulders, will guide them through. Good luck.
Apparently the Texas Rangers didn’t get the memo that they were playing a baseball game. A’s are beating the stuffing out of them.
Rangers will most likely get the Wild Card. They trail 12-5 going to the top of the 9th. They would either play Baltimore or the Yankees for the Wild Card game. If it’s the Yankees, they come to Yankee Stadium. If it’s the Orioles they play in the Ballpark In Arlington.
so yankees fans have to be rooting for baltimore tonigfht,… becauase if the yankeess and both baltimore lose,.. the a’;s win the number one seed
correct???
if baltimore wins,…. then even if the yankees lose tonight, they can play for the number one seed tomorrow by the 1/2 game– correct?
as long as baltimore wins?
Athletics are the AL West Champions.! Texas blew a 13 game lead. Wow.
How random!
Doug – you are not allowed to use the word random ™. here at YFU.
twasp, It’s a free country… I think!
Cano’s swing is sooooooooo sweet.
Twasp…let’s clone Robbie Cano multiple times. We’ll win the World Series if we have a bunch of hot hitting Robbie’s. 🙂
Cano is the best pure ballplayer I’ve ever seen and it all comes so easy.
That’s why you don’t care if Grandy strikes out a lot!
Trust me, I still care. But watching his HR’s makes everything rewarding.
TWASP loves Grandy too!
It’s gotten so bad for Arod that some fans would rather see Martin up in a clutch situation.
Good evening,…brother Twasp. You arrive, Yankees score three. Make yourself comfortable.
Good evening Patrick……. 66 at bats without an x-base hit….longest ofArods career?
Open the doors of the HOF right now for Robby Cano.
TWASP predicted the 2012 Yankees would beat the franchise record of 244 hrs. As of now they have 243. Come on Arod!
Robinson Cano has to be a robot. He has to be. He hit his 2nd HR of the game!
The greatest second baseman of ALL TIME! When it’s all said and done.
244 they did it!
Lets go Tex break the record!
CowGirl Bloggers…the great, wonderful CowGirl Bloggers of YFU…..Tonight, you see the steadying hand of manager Girardi, all over this team. Just like in the movie…”Master And Commander”, manager Girardi leads the way. I must fly off for another task….but for you guys/girls…the best of luck. Take care.
Has there ever been a team that had 10 players with over 14 hrs in a season? 2012 Yankees
Congratulations Yankees AL East Champions! For all the complaining that went on during the season you would have think they would have had the worst record in the AL and not the best lol. We overcame a lot what a great regular season. Now lets bring home #28!
OBAMA is kicking the crap out of romney in the first debate
Jim, I am watching on Fox and Romney’s winning!
You got that right doug!
Well, it looks like now we have the greatest Closer, SS and 2nd baseman of all time. Not bad, now let’s win the Play-offs then the WS. I hope all our players can and will be at their best, because it will take their best to get to and win the WS. Go Yankees!
Just a note back in 2003/04, on my yearly trips around the minors, I wrote on another site, about this 2nd baseman that was so smooth in the field he looked lazy and he had this swing that was so sweet, I wrote of him as the Yankee 2nd baseman of the future.
I think this new wild card set-up should help the division winners alot this year.
all i hear out iof romney is wawawawawa,.. like im listening to a charlie brown special and hew is the adult
obama is kicking romneys ass
Obana has trashed the country, but he is a good talker. He reminds me of Howdy Doody.
it dont matter, the only vote that will count is florida
All is well the Yanks are AL Champs, not the Rays, Sox, or O’s. The line in Vegas was 94 and a half at the beginning of the season, how do they do it.
it dont matter,.. mitt romnrey is a jerk,, and wants us all dead,.. i am not going to dish out 400 a month for health inmdurance,.. no go to the doctor for 20 years, cause i’m never sick,… then have an insurance ccompab ny tell me i contracted canv\cer 235 yerars ago, so it is a pre existing condition, and not payable
f the hell out of mitt romney
obamacare– if everyone the can afford health injmdurance, that dont have it, pay for it,.. the cost goes down to under 100 a month,.. and pre-existing conditionbs like long developing cancers are included
mitt romney is one evil creep
obama has the right planh and right idea
How can one argue with that logic?
Obama care is a nightmare!
Joe Girardi elected to pinch hit for Derek when Derek was stuck on 99 runs scored and for Granderson who could have tied Cabrera for the Home Run crown. Heck, in 1976 Nettles was placed leadoff on the final day because he was two homers behind Jim Rice. Oh well. 😦
Well the 100th run scored might not have happened regardless. It was best to take out all of the guys that played and let some others get playing time. Seeing Brett Gardner hit after everyone wrote off his 2012 season was (in my opinion) worth taking Jeter out. Besides, you don’t want your main guys to get injured a game before the ALDS, now do you?
I’m sure those goes needed a blow. Got to rest up for the post season. If the game was close they would have stayed in.
