  1. Word is Kuroda has been announced as the starter tomorrow. He’s only pitched on 3 days rest once in his career and gave up 3 runs in 1.1 IP.

  2. All games are big in the playoffs, but I think its very important for the Yanks to win tonight. They will be sending Kuroda out in Game 2 on short rest for essentially the first time in his career. Then in Game 3 at Detroit, CC goes on short rest against a fully rested Verlander. Then in Game 4 at Detroit I think DET has slight pitching edge with Scherzer vs Hughes.

  3. Isn’t it amazing how the big ABs just seem to find Alex?

  4. Girardi has to argue that.

  5. Well the guys in the front + Martin are doing good. It looked like both innings ended with questionable calls?!
Now is the time for all good men to step-up for their team.

  6. Wake up Joe!

  7. Make believe you care Joe.a

  8. At least support your players Joe!

  9. Ken – go out there and argue!

  10. At least the slumping Cano & ARod hit the ball well…..just a nice play and a bad call.

  11. Tex continues to hit in the playoffs

  12. Fister does not have his good stuff today. They have to make him pay!

  13. Arod is going deep!

  14. Alex will get a hit here.

  15. Great play again by Jeter

  16. Detroit has a lot of fat guys.

  17. Hey wasn’t that the wheelchair lady that just made another great play……………..

  18. Before it happens Swisher sucks

  19. Jeter haters are everywhere ….even at YFU.

  20. I was right he can’t do anything the guy is a clown……………………………….

  21. Jeez….Andy is painting the corners.

  22. How many blimps are there?

  23. Is Jackson crazy?

  24. Swisher is giving the game to Detroit.

  25. See if the guys can put up a 2 or 3+ spot. The more the better!

  26. Swisher sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!.H e needs to go ,Gardy to left ,Ichiro to right.
Ichiro makes that play in his back pocket

  27. Somebody take the mini fridge off texs back.

  28. I’ll beat you to it, That sucks, A-Rod.

    • Girardi put the nail in the coffin .Arod is officially dead and buried. He has no confidence and no shot.Joe mishandled the entire situation by benching him ,now he plays with the weight of the world on top of being over the hill

      • No doubt about it. He is already hitting about how you would, in the play-offs…after all you are a bit old!
But bottom line, how much pressure can a guy take. He is A-Rod, not some flash in the pan walk on.
Not only is he pressing hard but getting bounced around is not the way to give a player confidence.
He has sucked, no doubt about it. Tomorrow it will have been all A-Rods fault for the loss, if they do.
It is BS but, a good story for all those that already hate him.

  29. Pinch hit for swisher!

  30. Grand slam Grandy

  31. I have never seen a baseball hit in the area that Jackson’s triple went. Not in this Stadium or YSII.

  32. Jeter can’t make a play to his right.

  33. This team stinks!

  34. Swisher took too long to get over there………and usually a fan will pick it up for a double.

  35. Andy wanted to punch Girardi in the face for taking him out there. Did you see his face get red!?

  36. Good move Joe.
    fishjam, you forgot the ?.
I commented above about it, very good all around play.

  37. Can they flush the coward…away goes trouble down the drain! Defense matter and we have The Swisher!

The Tigers trade not much for Fister the former Yankees draft pick and we trade Montero for Pineda….this is so sad.

  38. Where are the fans? I need to hear rally chants? No? How about some JOE MUST GO? SWISH IS A COLD DISH BETTER SERVED ELSEWHERE?

  39. The Aswish…2 for 55….is this possible?

  40. Yanks need to rip Detroit’s bullpen!

  41. I want the AFL Yankees! Give me some Adams! Some Romine! Some Heathcott!

Cano wants 200 million? He’s not worth a wooden nickel!

  42. It Phil no choke Coke against no go Cano!

  43. Cano couldn’t get it past the pitcher! OMG this is turning into an all time suckfest!

  44. Way to go Tex at least you got it to the pitcher!

  45. Anyone…when did the Yankees turn into the Mets?

  46. Girardi just looked like he’s going to cry! Hey Levine tell your boy there’s no crying in Baseball!

  47. Why is Lowe pitching in the 8th inning of a 2-run game? Reminds me of last year when he had Ayala pitching in a similar situation vs Detroit.

  48. Can someone tell me what Detek Lowe is doing pitching for thebYankees in the playoffs?

  49. It’s time for a Boone swoon on the mound…do I smell another run?

  50. Good night guys I have a double header tomorrow morning with Highschool hitters ,I think I have 3 or 4 guys better than Swisher, and i’m not kidding

  51. The Yankees are as flat as the left over Champagne! The sparkle has faded!

  52. Thanks t and Ken, i guess I get it??????????????????lol

  53. I smell home run for Ibanez!

  54. Yankees offense the last 5 games:

    – have scored 9 runs in 5 games
    – combined 34 for 175 (.194 BA)
    – Jeter is 7 for 21, Ibanez is 4 for 9
    – Rest of the team is 23 for 145 for a .154 BA

  55. How does everyone feel now about the big douche changing his number from 27 to 28? How arrogant can you get. That’s sure worked well Joe.

  56. Holy shit! Austin Jackson just made an absolutely sensational catch!!

  57. JOE you pinch him for Alex but let THE SWISHER bat? Why JOE Why?

  58. Arod pinched hit for again??? Dipstick is lost.

  59. Typical Swish can’t hit when it matters!

  60. The Yankees better get their sh-t to gether or Tommy “Cry Baby” will get mad and have a fit.
I have seen more Yankee games (mostly on TV) than most anyone here…I have seen the worse teams of many years ago but, never seen such a Cluster Fu-k with bases full in any 2 or 3 games together let alone all in one game.
What is this ssssh, PH for A-Rod (Righty vs. Righty), Swisher gets a Double and Granderson takes a dump,
    the story of the game.

  61. JCK or Granderson???

  62. Arod for manager!

  63. Joe is picking on Arod now…..there are many others who are not performing who could be pinch hit for. Why Alex? Why embarrass him and lose him for later.

  64. Craig Sager for manager? He’s a snappy dresser!

  65. Hey Joe are you going to send a text to the guys tonight telling them they’re not playing tomorrow?

  66. That Granderson trade for Jackson, Coke & Kennedy looks great today.

    – Jackson has a Triple, Double and a tremendous catch to rob a Double
    – Granderson goes 0 for 4 with 2 Ks
    – Coke throws a perfect inning while his replacement Logan allows an inherited runner to score on a base hit

  67. Collecting donations to crate Girardi for shipping back to Africa! His gorilla family misses him!

  68. Joe Girardi the UNSTAR maker!

  69. Joe…put A-Rod in the line-up and leave him in. You and some fans are putting all the blam on A-Rod, Why? other that the fist 2 hitters, nobody is hitting. Is it because the Media and fans are putting pressure on you? Or has someone in the front office said to do it?
Joe, show some guts and stick to it. Just remember, unless A-Rod quits or offers a low buy out to the Yankees, he will be here next year and there after. What do you do then?

  70. if we had just kept it close I’d feel pretty good about getting to Valverde. I hate Valverde

  71. I am afraid we are headed for the 1965 to 93 time zone again, winning 2 of 4 WS and that is it!
Much could be said it was all King Geo.’s fault, trading away our young guys for older all stars and then most of the team got old all at the same time.
We now have a situation where we have a bunch of old players…A-Rod, Jeter among them. We need young blood next year has to be the start of bringing up young guys to play…not setting on the bench!

  72. HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  73. Ty game again, this guy is unreal!

  74. Wow. This guy is something else. He has breathed life back into this team once again. Now let’s win it!

  75. Dude this is frekin insane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta gove major props to tex as well for working that walk. Another quality AB from him.

  76. Raul a star amongst the unstars! The Ancient Mariners do it in NY!

  77. Pinch hit Gardner for the Swisher…we need another home run!

  78. At least we got Granderson out of the game and Gardner in.

  79. Jeter has always had problems with Dotel in his career.

  80. Have to win it here in the 11th so Cabrera & Fielder don’t come up in the 12th.

  81. Tough tenth….turn the page. I’m in, I’m out…long day. Good luck to you guys.

  82. I can’t believe Cano has been so bad. He was sooo hot coming in.

  83. Why hasn’t Ichiro stolen second base? This guy has no pick-off move and the one time he tried he got the bigest jump I’ve ever seen…..but Cano fouled it off.

  84. Dude….Swisher absolutely, positively, downright blows!

  85. Wow, Jeter has to be done for the season after that injury.

  86. I am to old to stay up so late just to see them lose a game. Stay with it fishjam and Patrick.
I have some fish waiting for me!

  87. And could possibly go into next season. that’s how bad that looked

  88. Girardi really screwed this up bad. How did he not use Robertson for the big bats and not pitch Sori two innings and pitch Lowe in a 2-0 game. And Swisher well yeah screw him.

    • This is what I hate about Girardi….he never learns from his mistakes. he did the exact same thing last yr in the playoffs vs Detroit.

      • Fish you’re in your early 20’s right? If you think that are bothered by people who don’t learn now, just wait until you’re 40!! You’ll be 40 some day and think to yourself, wow, I know why Mike used to have meltdowns about Girardi and Cashman every day!!!
If there is ONE thing you learn as you mature(get older) it is that people who don’t learn from their mistakes are the single most aggravating people in life.
Making mistakes or watching others makes them is the only way in life to really learn. The key in life is to make NEW mistakes and continue the learning process.
Most of the divorced people I know are divorced because their partners continued to make the same mistakes, over and over and over again.
You just hit the nail on the head. Against the Tigers(the same TEAM!!!) just a year ago Girardi treated a small deficit in a game like a game in June against the Mets and didn’t use his key relievers and allowed extra runs that cost us a game.
So what does he do? In game 1 against the very same TEAM?!!!! He uses Derek Lowe!!!!!!!! Same situation against the same team!!!!!!!
The sinking feeling I had in my gut as Lowe came back out to take the mound truly made me nauseous. I said right out loud to my friend that this was unreal, and that he obviously was treating it like a blown game.
The man is simply too stubborn to learn from his mistakes, and as I told all you in GAME ONE of this season(making CC walk SEAN RODRIGUEZ to face Pena) this man will NEVER learn from his mistakes and will continue to repeat them as long as he is managing in MLB.
So long as Girardi manages this team, we will witness these bizarre tactics time and time again.
He has sucked most of the joy out of being a fan and it makes me so very sad.
There is never a time while he has managed that we have been able to just sit back and enjoy a game. It’s constantly bothering me and making me nervous that he is going to do something stupid, and of course he does.
It wasn’t like this with Torre, hell it wasn’t like this with Stump Merrill!!!
Back then, we could just watch games and root for the Yankees and the result was the result.
Never was baseball a stressful thing for me until this guy happened along.
Bottom line is that you have it right, this guy just doesn’t learn.

        • Michael P – I wish I was still in my 20’s….I’m the same age as the Captain!
And yes, it really bothers me that Joe makes the same mistakes again and again. Here were my comments immediately after Game 2 vs Detroit last October:

“I think the Yankees made a big error in judgement by not going with CC on Sunday. It would have given them the pitching edge and a chance to go up 2 games to None. Instead you are now 1-1 with Verlander going tomorrow and AJ Burnett having to pitch a potential elimination game in Gm 4.

The other stupid move was using Luis Ayala in the 9th inning today. The score was only 4-1 and Ayala had just gotten smacked around the night before. The entire pen was rested so they should have gone all out to keep it 4-1 there. That would have made it much different in the bottom of the 9th when they almost came back.

Other things I would have done differently….pinch ran for Posada in the 7th (turned out not to matter) and pinch hit Jesus Montero for Gardner in the 7th instead of using Chavez. Montero had a huge Sept while Chavez hit .229/.269/.313. Gotta get Montero’s bat involved in this series!”

    • Why was Lowe put in the game?
Girardi defenders(sick, sick sick people) would really have to admit that a move like that is as bad as any move he’s ever pulled, and there have been so many of them.
This guy is not cut out to manage in the postseason. He has never grasped the difference between managing in the regular season and in the postseason.
As I’ve bashed Joe since June of 2008, people have often told me “he won a WS” and my response after that WS win was that he will cost us at least two WS that we should have won, mark my words.
I believe his ordering AJ to intentionally walk against Texas cost us that series in 2010.
His unwillingness to pinch hit in game 5 last year against the Tigers as well as his use of Garcia as a starter in that series cost us that series.
Now, you can add putting that scrub LOWE in the game while only trailing by two runs will probably be the difference here.
I’ve been watching the Yankees since 1974, and never have a I hated or dreaded a Yankee manager before Joe.
Sure we all questioned moves made by the previous managers at times, but it was those specific moves that we questioned.
With Joe G it’s something different, each and every one us(whether some will admit it or not)just know that he will screw something obvious up in just about every game and if you don’t think the players are aware of this and feel the weight of their manager you’re kidding yourself.
I know Joe G loves managing the Yankees and I know how bad he wants to win, but he’s simply not cut out for this job.
In the end, when he’s finally gone someday, people will realize how bad he was when the next guy takes over and isn’t making insane move after insane move.
I’ve never seen a guy who could overmanage so many spots in games, and at the same time undermanage other ones.
Lowe? When every reliever had the previous day off? REALLY?!!!!

  89. This game went from a possible huge, inspiring comeback to a tragic defeat and a soul-crushing injury to the Captain.

  90. Damn, it’s exactly what I thought….a fractured ankle for Jeter. This is a sad year for the yanks. The immortal Mo and the Captain Jeter both having to be carried off the field. They say about 3 months which is similar to Joba’s recovery so he should be OK for net year but who knows.

    • He may never be able to play SS again.

      • They said Joba might not walk again when he broke his ankle. Broken bones heal so I think he’ll be OK but you never know.

        • Fish we are talking about a 39 year old SS. It could take 6 plus months for him to get full range of motion. He may be able to DH and play the outfield but SS is iffy too start next season imo.

If would be sad if this ends things for him as a SS.

          • All depends on if there was other damage or if surgery is required but usually broken bones heal nicely. Joba and Pettitte came back OK. If there is any ligament damage it could complicate things. I broke my ankle sliding into 3rd base and granted i was a lot younger, but i was eventually 100% and playing football in a little over 2 months. The cast is usually on about 6 weeks and about another 4-6 weeks to get full strength back. But we will see.

            • fishjam….
I had a broken ankle in my 50’s. After surgery I had a small amount of nerve damage (no problem). I came back and was out in the field with my people in about 6 months (I think).
Only one problem, they put the foot back as if I had the normal slue foot but, I was pidgin toed. Some times I find myself walking at an angle. lol
As you and Free said, it all depends on any other damage he may have but, I don’t see him playing SS full time next year.

  91. Girardi stinks! Swisher stinks! Cashman stinks! The trifecta of SUCK!

  92. Girardi is really pathetic. He is an embarrassment to the Yankees organization and their entire fan base around the galaxy!

  93. Swisher absolutely choked in the OF today. His istakes directly led to 3 runs tonight including the game winners. He’s also a ZERO at the plate with his only hit a meaningless one. His .130 BA for his 4th straight season of post-season failure is a joke.

Thank God Hal is lowering the payroll otherwise Cashman would likely give him a big 4-year deal. Hopefully the reduced budget will prevent Cashman from trading away the next generation of young players.

  94. Would love to see a lineup tomorrow without A-Rod, Swish, or Granderson in it.
