  1. There is a surreal atmosphere hanging over the Yankees that is reminiscent of the late 70s when George was fighting with Billy, Billy was fighting Reggie, Reggie was fighting Munson and despite it all the Yankees pulled off one of the best comebacks of all-time on the Red Sox.

With all of the ARod off the field bullshit going on, the team has seemed to have come together a bit. All of the offensive additions are helping and the idiotic choice of Boston to kick a sleeping dog by hitting ARod seemed to pump up the entire team. There’s still only a small chance of making the playoffs but I’ve seen bigger deficits than 6 games closed in less time. The hard part is TB, Boston & OAK/TEX aren’t going to make it easy…..the bright spot is the yanks can control much of their destiny with a lot of games left with TB/BOS. If nothing else, its at least entertaining to watch the Yankees again.

    • fishjam, I agree, it seems like the Yanks have had trouble with stars that come to the team and aren’t home grown. Reggie, Winfield, and now A-Rod all are hall of fame players who have had issues with the Yanks while playing well. You could add Rickey Henderson to that mix. The bottom line is these players could never meet the high expectations the fans and the team put on them, except for Reggie. Even when they are playing up to par they were better than most of the players in the league.

  2. Pumpernickel Bread

The Yankees will make the playoffs if CC gets his act together.

Kip- andy is 90 years old … We can’t expect him to step up like he did before. And Hughes is toast….don’t expect him to turn it around. But CC ….should put back on the 200lbs he lost .

    • Kip was me, turnabout is fun right, pumpernickelbug?
I’ll use my name, thank you very much, that way fans will know who is shaking up their blind devotion to players that have had it.

Andy should be replaced as should Phil, sit them now! We have Phelps and Warren, when and if Phelps returns. They will do just as well, heck…they can’t be any worse, can they?

Next year all of these guys are gone, or should be: A-Rod, Jeter, Soriano, Itchy, Wells, Stewart, Andy, Hafner, Overbay, Youkillis and Cano (Free Agent).

Sorry and Granderson have a few years left, do we try to keep them?

Now this one will get everyone up set….I wrote (last year) that Mo was getting hitable, some got up set!
Now, if one knows Mos’ style they will know he depends on his C&C! Last year in July/Aug he showed he was losing his edge. His cutter wasn’t as sharp and was drifting a bit, I saw it and so have others but because he is Mo…the 2nd Greatest Pitcher I have ever seen (#1 is Satch Page)…nobody wanted nor dared to say anything because they would be called Mo haters!
My goodness, he is 42 years old pitching in the Bigs as a top line closer…the best ever!
As with Jeter, Mo can’t go on for ever…age is very unforgiving…been there done that!
As is, Mo is still better than anyone we or 99% of the others.

9 years later …. Would the Yankees have won more Championships with Soriano than Arod? We know he played great during the season but Arod choked every post season. Soriano is a better clutch hitter.

  5. Pumpernickel Bread

Arod didn’t choke in 2009 ps but that year his cousin travelled with him.
