Andy is back!

Good evening. Well the star of the Yankees today is: Andy Pettitte for announcing that he is returning to the Yankees after “retiring” in the 2010 season. I know, I thought Jack Curry was kidding when he said it. Turns out it was true.Anyway, there is other news besides Andy Pettitte, so let’s get to the notes for today:

— Like I said earlier this week on Twitter, the Yankees were planning on making cuts this weekend and they have. 10 players were sent to minor league camp while 4 were optioned. Here is the list of players sent to minor league camp:

LHP Manny Banuelos
RHP Dan Burawa
RHP Brett Marshall
RHP Adam Miller
RHP Ryan Pope
RHP Graham Stoneburner
RHP Chase Whitley
C Kyle Higashioka

Here are the players that were optioned:

INF David Adams (to Double-A Trenton)
OF Zolio Almonte (to Double-A Trenton)
INF Corban Joseph (to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
OF Melky Mesa (to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre)

The camp now has 56 players: 28 pitchers, 5 catchers, 13 infielders and 10 outfielders.

— Okay, we can get back to Andy Pettitte now! I saw this funny tweet from Michael Kay (@RealMichaelKay) today about how excited Paul O’Neil was to see Andy back. Here’s the tweet:
