Garcia is back!!!

Garcia is back!!

by Matt S.

According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Freddy Garcia will receive about $5 million in his new one-year deal with the Yankees.

In other words, Garcia will get a modest (and guaranteed) raise after making a $1.5 million base salary in 2011 and another $1.85 million in bonuses based on games started. The Yankees have yet to confirm the signing, but Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the deal is done.

According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Yankees and Freddy Garcia have agreed to a one-year contract.

We learned Wednesday night that the two sides were nearing an agreement, but Olney hears that the deal is done. Garcia, 35, posted a surprising 3.62 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 146 2/3 innings with the Bombers this season. The Yankees will continue to look for upgrades, but their projected rotation for 2012 currently includes Garcia, CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova, A.J. Burnett and Phil Hughes.

Thanks!!!

I’d like to take this time to say thanks to the writers of this site. First off to Mike who I started this blog with as an outlet for other fans to get together and talk about our favorite team, and to provide new ideas and thoughts along the way.  Mike and I are newer to something like blogging but we have tried our hardest to provide a great site for all of you. Mike does an excellent job and I appreciate that.

We haven’t even come up to our first year yet and I feel we have made huge progress with additions like Ricky who gives us those amazing Series Previews.

We than found Delia who has been nothing but a blessing for Mike and I as she steps up anytime we need her to cover for us and is always on top of anything Yankees related.

Next an old friend Fishjam pleasantly surprised us when he wanted to write for us. Mike and I were very happy to have him aboard with his great analysis of all the players and of course his insight on the minor-league guys.

Last but not least is our newest writer Matthew who was brought to our attention by Delia. Matthew came up with a great article to impress Mike and I, and quickly earned himself a spot on our team. He hasn’t let up since, continuing to pour out great articles.

Again I want to say thanks to all of you on this day of Thanksgiving. Thanks for the continuous hard work and I look forward to a great season ahead!!!

Of course I do not want to forget the people who keep coming back to our site to read our articles, including those who comment and those who don’t. You guys motivate us to make this site the best it could possibly be. Thank you so much!

Always,

Matt S.

According to David Waldstein of the New York Times, the Yankees are nearing a one-year deal with Freddy Garcia.

Garcia was offered arbitration by the Yankees late Wednesday night after posting a surprising 3.62 and 1.36 WHIP ERA over 146 2/3 innings during the 2011 regular season. He’s likely to see a significant raise from his $1.5 million 2011 salary. The Red Sox were known to have some amount of free agent interest in him.

Morning Bits: Nunez trade, Swisher, Bleachers, International players

Good morning all and Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. I hope you all enjoy the day and are spending it with the ones you love.

And now to the Yankee links…

* Ray Monell from Yahoo Sports looks into why the Yankees shouldn’t swap Nunez for Jurrjens.

* Swisher and his wife kick off their Afghanistan honeymoon.

* More talk about the Yankees raising the prices of the bleachers.

* Bleacher Report looks into five international players the Yankees should look into.  Two I have heard of; the others are all new to me.  Make sure you read this one to learn something new.

Enjoy the day!!!!
