According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, Freddy Garcia will receive about $5 million in his new one-year deal with the Yankees.
In other words, Garcia will get a modest (and guaranteed) raise after making a $1.5 million base salary in 2011 and another $1.85 million in bonuses based on games started. The Yankees have yet to confirm the signing, but Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the deal is done.
According to Buster Olney of ESPN.com, the Yankees and Freddy Garcia have agreed to a one-year contract.
We learned Wednesday night that the two sides were nearing an agreement, but Olney hears that the deal is done. Garcia, 35, posted a surprising 3.62 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 146 2/3 innings with the Bombers this season. The Yankees will continue to look for upgrades, but their projected rotation for 2012 currently includes Garcia, CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova, A.J. Burnett and Phil Hughes.
